Thai Cargo 777F

It’s Amsterdam again, and we’re seeing N775SA (msn: 37987) heading out for parts unknown. Contributor Yves Hameleers captured the moment.

The 777F hasn’t been around long but it is already in service with a variety of carriers – but the two currently operating in Thai Cargo colors are unique in that they are the only ACMI-leased 777Fs in current service. As the registrations suggest, N775SA and sister ship N774SA (msn: 37986) are leased from Southern Air. Southern is the only ACMI provider offering the 777F.

The two 777F’s are currently Thai’s only main-deck freighters, but in late October, as reported in Cargo Facts, Thai Cargo’s Managing Director, Pichai Chunganuwad, announced that Thai intends to acquire eight main-deck freighters of the next few years – a mixture of 747Fs and either A300s or 767s – beginning in Q1 or Q2 of 2011.

Amsterdam is a cargo-only destination for Thailand’s flag carrier, which has recently been using the 777Fs to destinations including Nairobi, Amsterdam, Johannesburg, Liege, Frankfurt, and now Maastricht. The proposed smaller freighters (A300/767) would be used to connect China and India via BKK.
