Altavair’s Matt Hoesley joins Cargo Facts EMEA 2024

Matt Hoesley, chief commercial officer of lessor Altavair, will join Cargo Facts EMEA 2024 for the panel discussion “Freighter finance and leasing: To lease or to purchase?” on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 11:15 (GMT +1).

The sixth annual Cargo Facts EMEA event takes place Feb. 5-7 at the Hilton Amsterdam, where industry leaders will gather to share their outlook on the air cargo sector in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Hoesley served as head of acquisitions at Altavair for more than eighteen years before moving into the CCO position in October. He also served as director of investment firm Guggenheim Partners from 2005 to 2016, when the management team behind Guggenheim Aviation Partners bought the aircraft leasing business from Guggenheim to form Altavair.

“We are looking forward to the opportunities 2024 will bring, with a keen interest in continuing to increase our cargo aircraft fleet with a focus on passenger-to-freighter conversions, along with new and used acquisitions of production freighters to support our network of cargo airline partners,” Hoesley said.

Altavair reached a deal in 2022 to convert ten A330-300P2Fs and lease them to Amazon. The first unit, a 2018-vintage aircraft (1902), entered service in October with Hawaiian Airlines, which is flying the Airbus medium-widebody freighter for Amazon on a CMI basis.

More recently, Altavair placed an order with IAI for six 777-300ERSF conversion slots with an option for four more.

Cargo Facts EMEA 2024 will provide attendees with an overview of the pivotal events that shaped the industry in the past year while analyzing market conditions, trends and new developments underway.
