Boeing’s Brian Hermesmeyer to talk widebody freighters at Cargo Facts Symposium

Brian Hermesmeyer, Boeing’s senior director of product marketing and freighter customer leader, will join a panel discussion on widebody freighters at Cargo Facts Symposium 2023.

The 29th Cargo Facts Symposium will take place Oct. 25-27 at the Omni Hotel in San Diego, where industry leaders will gather to share insights and analyses on developing market trends while providing an outlook on the air cargo industry in the Americas and around the world.

Hermesmeyer is the primary representative of Boeing’s freighter programs. He joined Boeing in 1996 and has served in various roles in engineering, manufacturing, flight testing, post-production modification and freighter conversions. He was appointed senior director of product marketing and freighters in 2021.

Boeing has delivered seventeen 777Fs so far in 2023. The latest delivery at the end of September was to Silk Way West, which becomes the second carrier after China Postal Airlines to receive its first 777F this year. Meanwhile, Boeing’s new 777-8F is in development, with first deliveries expected in 2027.

“Almost 40% of the large-widebody freighter fleet is the 777F right now,” Hermesmeyer said at Cargo Facts Asia in April. “So the world’s most popular large-widebody freighter platform is what we are building from together with our brand new 777X family.”

In the medium-widebody freighter segment, Boeing has delivered 236 production 767-300Fs to date, while the planemaker’s 767-300BCF program has converted more than eighty freighters over fifteen years.

The session Hermesmeyer joins is “Spoiled for choice: The intense widebody competition” on Friday, Oct. 27, at 10:45 a.m. PDT (GMT -5). The panel will address the 777 vs. A350 battle, the medium-widebody market, and more.

Hermesmeyer will be in discussion with Crawford Hamilton, head of freighter marketing at Airbus, Baldvin Hermannsson, CEO of Air Atlanta Icelandic, and Rafi Matalon, vice president and general manager of marketing at IAI’s Aviation Group.
