SkyNRG’s Dwek joins Cargo Facts EMEA 2024

David Dwek, senior future fuels analyst at sustainable aviation fuel supplier SkyNRG, will join Cargo Facts EMEA 2024 to present on “Cleaner skies: Europe’s leading role in sustainability” on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 14:45 (GMT +1).

The sixth annual Cargo Facts EMEA event takes place Feb. 5-7 at the Hilton Amsterdam, where industry leaders will gather to share their outlooks on the air cargo sector in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Dwek became senior future fuels analyst of SkyNRG in January 2023 after more than two years evaluating the supply chain segment for the company.

SkyNRG expects to complete its dedicated sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facilities in the United States and Europe by 2030. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Boeing have agreed to purchase SAF from SkyNRG, commitments that could worth $4.4 billion, according to the Amsterdam-based supplier.

“This is a thrilling time to be in the SAF market,” Dwek told Cargo Facts. “The importance of SAF for the sustainability of the aviation sector is understood by now, and the global increase in SAF demand requires rapid expansion in production capacity. At SkyNRG we are carrying forward three different projects towards 2030 to build three commercial-scale production plants that deploy three different pathways: HEFA [hydroprocessed esters and fatty acids], AtJ [alcohol-to-jet] and PtL [power-to-liquid].”

“But we cannot change the aviation industry on our own,” Dwek said. “The industry now needs solid partnerships to realize the increase in production capacity.”

The company received an investment of $190 million from the Macquarie GIG Energy Transition Solutions Fund in November 2023.

Cargo Facts EMEA 2024 will provide attendees with an overview of the pivotal events that shaped the industry in the past year while analyzing market conditions, trends and new developments.
