Jeff Luckett, head of UAS strategy, R&D and acquisitions at UPS Flight Forward, will join Cargo Facts Symposium 2021 to discuss developments in cargo drones and electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
Luckett is a founding member of UPS Flight Forward, a UPS subsidiary established in 2019 to develop unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and other alternatives to conventional freighter aircraft.
Luckett is part of a panel titled, “Thinking outside the cockpit: Integrating alternatives to today’s jet freighters in air cargo,” taking place live at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at the Wynn Las Vegas.
UPS Flight Forward obtained certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a Part 135 air carrier in late 2019.
Earlier this year, UPS Flight Forward placed a firm order for ten Alia-250c eVTOL aircraft from Beta Technologies, with options for up to 150 more. The integrator intends to operate the 0.6-tonne capacity aircraft as part of its Express Air network in small and mid-size markets.
Beta Technologies’ CEO Kyle Clark is also part of the panel.
Luckett has been with UPS for thirty-two years and prior to his current role was manager of aircraft acquisitions and long-range planning at UPS Airlines.
