Last year, Europe’s largest all-cargo operator launched a strategic review of its long-term business strategy. Although the Luxembourg-based carrier has not yet announced any major change of course, Cargolux CEO Richard Forson did shed some light on potential new strategies in an interview with The Loadstar. He said that, while initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, such as digitalization and the development of new products to leverage e-commerce, are to be expected, Cargolux also sees potential in ACMI partnerships with passenger carriers that dabble in cargo, but are too risk averse to develop an own-operated freighter fleet. He added that Cargolux had already piloted an ACMI-like relationship with one airline and would pursue additional partnerships.
