South Korean air cargo traffic 7.5% higher in 2016, compared to 2015, as total tonnage reached 3.78 million tonnes. The country’s two big carriers, Korean Air and Asiana, both operate significant freighter fleets. Korean Air accelerated its freighter fleet renewal efforts in 2016. In the last twelve months, Korean has taken delivery of a 747-8F and six 777Fs, while retiring two 747-400ERFs and two 747-400Fs. Asiana’s freighter fleet remained unchanged during the same period, though it currently has two 747-400 combis in conversion to full-freighter configuration with Bedek.
