Air Cargo Carriers’ Jim Germek to spotlight regional freighters at Cargo Facts Symposium 2023
Air Cargo Carriers Chairman Jim Germek will join a panel spotlighting regional freighters at Cargo Facts Symposium 2023.
The 29th Cargo Facts Symposium will take place Oct. 25-27 at the Omni Hotel in San Diego, where industry leaders will gather to share insights and analyses on developing market trends while providing an outlook on the air cargo industry in the Americas and around the world.
Germek has served in the leadership role at Air Cargo Carriers since the airline began operating in 1986. He has thirty-seven years of experience in the regional air cargo sector.
Germek said that many companies have relocated to smaller communities to take advantage of a more stable and skilled workforce — or simply originated there.
“Many of them directly service large national and international accounts,” he said. “Extending next-day air to these communities has made them viable, reliable suppliers. Without a paradigm shift in economic realities, service is likely to continue at current levels.”
Air Cargo Carriers told Cargo Facts in February 2022 that it was evaluating the ATR and Dash 8 platforms as part of its fleet expansion and said this year that it had identified the right aircraft. The Wisconsin-based carrier operates about thirty Short 360 freighters and is the largest operator of the type.
Germek joins the panel “Regional freighters in the spotlight” on Friday, Oct. 27, at 11:30 a.m. PDT (GMT -5), which will focus on the transitioning role of the regional freighter and the types that will provide service to the air cargo segment in the foreseeable future.
The other speakers are Donald R. Kamenz, vice president of marketing and sales at Jetstream Aviation Capital, and Tim Komberec, chief executive of Empire Airlines.
