LATAM Cargo CEO Bianchi to discuss freighter outlook at Cargo Facts Symposium 2023
LATAM Cargo Chief Executive Andres Bianchi will join a global freighter market panel on Oct. 26 at Cargo Facts Symposium 2023.
The 29th Cargo Facts Symposium will take place Oct. 25-27 at the Omni Hotel in San Diego, where industry leaders will gather to share insights and analyses on market trends while providing an outlook on the air cargo industry in the Americas and around the world.
Bianchi has thirteen years of experience in the air cargo business and served as vice president of finance and as senior vice president of network and sales and revenue management for North America, Europe and Asia for LATAM Cargo. He was appointed CEO in April 2017.
“Right now, with the market as it is, there is probably overcapacity because we’re going through a rough patch,” Bianchi said during a fireside chat at Cargo Facts LATAM in April. “If you adjust for the cycle, there is a bit of overcapacity mainly because the passenger side has come back faster. If you look at the current capacity levels and cut passenger capacity by 10%, there would be more balance in the industry, as many did not expect the passenger belly market to recover until late 2024.”
LATAM is the largest cargo operator in South America with eighteen 767-300 freighters. The carrier told Cargo Facts in May that it is replacing its older 767 freighters with younger conversions and expects to operate nineteen or twenty of the type by next year. It sent ten passenger 767-300ERs for conversion with Boeing.
Bianchi joins the panel “Where is air cargo headed in 2024 and beyond?” on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 9:10 a.m. PDT (GMT -5). The discussion will focus on the status of the global freighter market and what lies ahead. The other speakers are Fatih Cigal, senior vice president of cargo marketing at Turkish Airlines; Richard Corrado, CEO of Air Transport Services Group; Diogo Elias, senior vice president of Avianca Cargo; and Michael Steen, CEO of Atlas Air.
