Malaysia Airlines Cargo returned to Europe in 2020 after a five-year hiatus and expanded its lift capacity to the region with large-widebody freighter service after reaching a deal with Azerbaijan-based Silk Way West Airlines to provide capacity. That arrangement has ended.

“For us to grow our own widebody freighter operations, the only options that we’re looking at are 777 freighters; the new A350F, which will be very costly; and 747Fs,” Thomas told Cargo Facts in January.

Thomas was promoted from chief commercial officer of the airline to CEO in January 2023. He previously served as the commercial director of Raya Airways.

Cargo Facts Asia will assemble industry leaders and executives to share their insights on the air cargo sector in the Asia-Pacific region while providing a forum for attendees to engage with key decision-makers.
