Rimbun Air grew its narrowbody fleet to five 737Fs in September 2023, when the Indonesia-based carrier acquired a pair of 737-300Fs from China-based Loong Air.

Rimbun took delivery of its first 737-800SF in September 2022 on lease from Austin, Texas-based Aero Capital Solutions. It told Cargo Facts it was in talks with the lessor to add two more of the type this year while it evaluates the 767 freighter for widebody operations.

“We are working on preparing international operations, and aiming to operate around Southeast Asia and China,” Winata told Cargo Facts. “In terms of the Indonesian market, I don’t see much improvement in both the cargo and passenger markets for many reasons, but this low point may give us the right momentum to expand to international.”

Winata has served as Rimbun Air’s executive director since 2018, one month after graduating from the University of London.

Cargo Facts Asia will assemble industry leaders and executives to share their insight on the air cargo sector in the Asia-Pacific region while providing a forum to engage with key decision-makers.
