Synergy expands the Avianca freighter fleet

While some carriers cut back their widebody freighter operation, Brazil-based Synergy Aerospace is expanding.

Synergy is the parent of the Avianca group of carriers, including Colombia-based Avianca, and Brazil-based Avianca Brasil. Avianca Cargo (formerly Tampa Cargo), the cargo arm of the Colombian subsidiary operates four A330-200Fs and one 767-300F, and now Avianca Brasil has taken its first freighter – the first of three A330-200Fs parent Synergy has on order with Airbus. The combined passenger fleets of Avianca and Avianca Brasil also offer considerable belly capacity, and the group has rapidly risen to rival LATAM as a major South American cargo player.

The Avianca Brasil freighter was the twenty-sixth A330-200F delivered by Airbus, which has twelve more in its firm order backlog.
