Elroy Air unveiled its Chaparral C1 autonomous vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) cargo drone earlier this year. The Chaparral C1 is powered by a lithium-ion battery and a 150kW turboshaft engine and is capable of transporting 300 lbs to 500 lbs of cargo over a maximum range of 300 miles. Commercial and humanitarian operations are expected to begin in 2023.
In March, Elroy announced a partnership with FedEx Express to test the Chaparral C1 amid the rapid growth of e-commerce.
Asante joined Elroy Air in January 2019 and has helped the San Francisco-based startup develop strategic partnerships with FedEx, NASA, Lockheed Martin, World Economic Forum, Air Force, Embraer, Bristow and other Fortune 500 corporations.
Prior to Elroy Air, Asante was a part of Uber’s advanced technology strategy group which launched Uber Freight, where he built an Uber entity he named “Powerloop” which decreases wait time for drivers and enables high utilization for autonomous trucks.
Since 1994, Cargo Facts Symposium has been the premier air freight event of the year, and it remains a vital source of information and connection for the industry. The 2022 Symposium will once again bring together an exclusive group of aircraft lessors, service providers and operators.
