Haite Tianjin became the second MRO in China to convert both Boeing and Airbus narrowbodies when it redelivered its first A321-200P2F (1707, ex-Red Wings) to Juniper Aviation Investments, the 50-50 joint venture between ST Engineering and Temasek, earlier in March.

The China-based MRO has also begun construction on its third hangar to meet the growing demand for narrowbody freighter conversions. The new hangar, slated for completion by 2025, will house three narrowbody bays for freighter conversions and other aircraft maintenance services.

“[Doing conversions] actually has a lot of this repeatable work that we are looking at,” Chin told Cargo Facts at the redelivery ceremony. “After the third-phase expansion, that is exactly where we are looking at expansion to cater for the growth, especially in the A320 and A321 cargo conversion market.”

To hear Chin speak to Haite’s strategies for growth, listen to this recent episode of “Cargo Facts Connect.”

Chin joined Tianjin Haite Aircraft Engineering in 2018 and played a key role in launching the 737 freighter conversion program. He previously served in various management positions with ST Engineering, including director of corporate affairs for STARCO, the joint venture MRO between ST and China Eastern Airlines.

Cargo Facts Asia will assemble industry leaders and executives to share their insight on the air cargo sector in the Asia-Pacific region while providing attendees a forum to engage with key decision-makers.
