Navoi International Airport (NVI) put into operation its new cargo terminal. It will be a key part of the development of the airport’s international intermodal logistics center in cooperation with Korean Air and its parent, Hanjin Group. Korean operates twelve flights per week between Incheon (ICN) and Europe with a stop at Navoi using 747-400 freighter aircraft. In May 2009, Uzbekistan gave NATO rights to transit Navoi for non-lethal cargo. The US uses the airport, about 5 1/2 hrs by road SW from Toshkent, for logistics support of the war in Afghanistan.
