US-based MRO and conversion specialist PEMCO World Air Services emerged from its recent restructuring with the announcement of an agreement to convert more 737-400s to freighter configuration for China Postal Airlines.

PEMCO has a long history with China Postal, having already provided the carrier with eight passenger-to-freighter conversions, including six 737-400Fs and two 737-300Fs. The new contract is for two more 737-400 conversions, work on which is already well underway. The first unit (26335, an ex-ILFC aircraft formerly leased to Hainan Airlines) is scheduled for redelivery  by the end of October, while the second (26337, also an ex-ILFC unit formerly leased to Hainan) will be inducted for conversion in mid-October. Touch labor on the conversions will be performed by HAECO, parent of both TAECO and STAECO, which have conversion facilities in Xiamen and Jinan, respectively.

Following the addition of the two PEMCO-converted 737-400Fs, China Postal’s fleet will grow to eighteen units, including eight 737-300Fs, two 737-300 combis, and eight 737-400Fs.
