UPS Capital invests in freight security

UPS Capital, a subsidiary of UPS, is purchasing the Insured Parcel Services (IPS) arm of G4S International Logistics. G4S is a global company that specializes in security and related services in more than 110 countries.

The purchase came not long after UPS Capital acquired Parcel Pro, a logistics provider for high-value jewelry, watches and collectibles.

With this acquisition, IPS customers will have access to Parcel Pro’s secure logistics services, including higher insured value limits and expanded international coverage, as well as mobile apps, application program integration and risk management web tools. Customers of the IPS unit of G4S will now have coverage for up to $150,000 per package in the U.S., and up to $100,000 in other select countries.
