C.H. Robinson has entered into a US$225 “definitive agreement” to acquire APC Logistics, a provider of freight forwarding and customs brokerage services in Australia and New Zealand. With 10 percent of the Australian forwarding market, APC will allow C.H. Robinson to capture a significant portion of shipments moving between Europe, Asia and Australia, said C.H. Robinson’s chairman and chief executive, John Wiehoff.

APC Logistics is a privately held international freight forwarder, providing ocean, air, customs brokerage and consultancy services. With more than 3,000 current customers and suppliers, APC generated approximately $251 million in total revenues for the 2016 fiscal year.

Minnesota-based C.H. Robinson plans to integrate APC into its global forwarding division, as well as into its global technology platform, called Navisphere. The 3PL giant said it plans to win new e-commerce business as a result of the deal.

The APC deal is part of C.H. Robinson’s stated strategy of growth through acquisition. In early 2015, the 3PL bought online trucking marketplace Freightquote.com for $365 millions.
