Quehenberger expands joint logistics center in Austria

Salzburg-based Quehenberger Logistics and German drugstore chain, dm-drogerie markt, have expanding their joint operations with a new €10 million distribution center and warehouse in the Austrian city of Enns. The new 15,000-square-meter facility, which took nine months to build, includes three logistics halls to handle pharmaceuticals and other freight.

The new property has an external height of 12 meters and is equipped with 34 loading bays. The remaining land is used by Quehenberger Logistics as a multi-customer logistics center and a warehouse measuring 5,200 square meters.

The investment, said Quehenberger CEO Christian Fürstaller, makes Enns “one of the most important logistics centers in Austria.” He added out that the facility’s central location within the country makes it “optimally linked for all transport modes,” ensuring cost-effective distribution to dm’s 390 branches across Austria.

Quehenberger Logistics operates four sites in Upper Austria with a total of 180 employees and 53,800 square meters of warehousing and cargo-handling space, Fürstaller said. In addition to the Enns facility, Quehenberger also operates a dangerous goods facility and other warehouses for industrial customers in the cities of Eberstalzell, Leonding and Linz.
