American Airlines Cargo announced its biggest investment to date, a multi-year rollout of iCargo, a next-generation cargo management system that the carrier says will, “transform the company’s technology across the entire American Airlines Cargo footprint.”

iCargo’s software appears to be compatible with all the latest airfreight technology developments, gaining customers, such as Lufthansa Cargo, Turkish Cargo and Qantas. The software provides an integrated airfreight solution that cover the end-to-end business processes for managing air cargo, including cargo terminal operations (CTO), cargo revenue accounting (CRA), mail management and ULD management.

AA Cargo said it will migrate to a web-based, fully integrated technology platform connecting all of its critical business functions beginning next month.

American and IBS, iCargo’s developer, are developing a multi-year, phased implementation and rollout strategy to avoid any disruption as the carrier upgrades its technology. AA Cargo said that it was “committed to taking an iterative approach to this implementation to ensure day-to-day business functions run smoothly during the transition, minimizing the impact go-live will have on partners and customers.”
