Embraer signs first Chinese deal for E190F/E195F conversions

China-based Lanzhou Aviation Development Group has signed a letter of agreement with Embraer to establish a conversion site in China for the E190F/E195F 'E-Jets' passenger-to-freighter program. The commitment, signed by the companies at the Paris Air Show this week, includes a conversion order for twenty E190F and E195F aircraft. Lanzhou also will support Embraer in promoting the new freighter type to the Chinese market. (Photo/Embraer)[/caption] Cargo Facts believes Embraer will use the Eastern Airlines Technic facility in Lanzhou (LHW) in northwestern China. Eastern Airlines Technic is a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines. The deal is the first in China for Embraer’s freighter conversion program, currently in development. Embraer’s E190F prototype arrived in Sao Jose dos Campos (SJK) on Feb. 11 ahead of its structural modification and supplemental type certification. The 2010-vintage aircraft (19000360, ex-Avianca El Salvador), owned by Regional One, was ferried from Macon (MCN) to SJK after the initial prep work was completed at the Embraer Aircraft Maintenance Services facility at MCN. The unit is a part of a firm order for ten conversions Embraer confirmed in June 2022. There are eighty-five passenger E-Jets in service with four carriers in China, according to Embraer. As part of growing interest from Chinese provincial bodies in the freighter business, a similar deal was reached between 321 Precision Conversions and Sichuan Aviation Industry Development Co . for “multiple” A321PCF conversions and to launch an A321-200PCF conversion site at the Sichuan Airlines MRO in Chengdu (CTU).
