Express Cargo Airlines receives Indonesian AOC

Express Cargo Airlines has become the most recent freighter operator to obtain an AOC from Indonesia’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Express Cargo Airlines received its AOC on Aug. 11 and made its first commercial flight on Aug. 13, it confirmed to Cargo Facts . (Photo/Express Cargo Airlines)[/caption] The airline, which started certification flights in June with a 1990-vintage 737-300F (24789, ex-Africa Charter Airline), said it is in search of another 737-300F with a lease-to-purchase option. Express Cargo Airlines is one of at least three new Indonesia-based airlines with 737 freighters that aim to get certified by yearend. While Express Cargo Airlines has selected the 737 Classic, the two other carriers have opted for the 737-800BCF. Raindo United Services took delivery of its first (32685, ex-Neos) on lease from AerCap in July and a second (32690, ex-AnadoluJet) this month; BBN Airlines Indonesia took its first (29790, ex-AnadoluJet) on lease from AviaAM Leasing in July. Both have also begun proving flights. As Cargo Facts recently reported, the 737-300F is the most popular freighter type in Southeast Asia by far, with twenty-six units in service as of the end of July. Indonesian operators accounted for twenty-one of those freighters. Express Cargo Airlines, Raindo United Services and BBN Airlines Indonesia join Airfast Indonesia, Asia Cargo Airlines , RGA-Black Stone Airlines , Jayawijaya Dirgantara, My Indo Airlines , Rimbun Air and Trigana Air Service in flying jet freighters in Indonesia.
