Ed De Reyes, chairman and chief executive of Sabrewing, will join Cargo Facts EMEA 2024 for the panel discussion “Forging a path forward for advanced air mobility” on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 11:00 (GMT +1).

The sixth annual Cargo Facts EMEA event takes place Feb. 5-7 at the Hilton Amsterdam, where industry leaders will gather to share their outlook on the air cargo sector in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

View the full event agenda.

De Reyes is a retired Air Force veteran, serial entrepreneur and inventor, with several patents and patents pending to his name. He retired as an experimental test pilot and flight test engineer in February 2018. He had served in those capacities for several companies, including: McDonnell Douglas, Aerotest, General Dynamics, Northrop Grumman, Cobalt, Elytron and Moller International.

Sabrewing, which is developing its Rhaegal-A cargo drone, announced in February 2023 that it had received a letter of intent from Dallas-based Ameriflight for thirty-five units. The company also has a commitment from Saudi Arabia-based ADMC for fifty-three drones.

The drone broke a world record for payload carried by a drone on its first flight for carrying a test payload of 374 kg. It is capable of a maximum payload of 1.4 tonnes at speeds of 200 knots up to a range of 1,000 nautical miles.

“While large, ‘heavy’ drones have been around for over thirty years, a large portion of the population — and even some drone designers — today have no idea what drones can do and have been doing,” De Reyes told Cargo Facts. “It may seem mysterious to some, but UAVs have been plying the skies of the world safely with private and commercial traffic, using the same infrastructure, facilities and airways without as much as a near miss. ‘Doing UAVs right’ is what distinguishes successful UAV companies from those who won’t be around too much longer.”

Cargo Facts EMEA 2024 will provide attendees with an overview of the pivotal events that shaped the industry in the past year while analyzing market conditions, trends and new developments.
