China Airlines to implement IBS Software’s iCargo

IBS Software and China Airlines signed an agreement this month for the carrier to deploy IBS’ iCargo management system. China Airlines (CI) will use iCargo to transition from its existing cargo system to a single platform that includes sales, import and export operations, air mail handling and revenue accounting capabilities. CI, the leading Taiwanese carrier, carried nearly 930,000 tonnes of cargo globally last year, according to a company spokesperson. CI operates 112 aircraft, including 17 Boeing 747-400 and five Boeing 777 freighters. System will centralize CI’s digital operations CI uses a system it developed, the CI spokesperson told Air Cargo Next . The airline expects iCargo to increase efficiency and opportunities for sales management. [caption id="attachment_69563" align="alignright" width="300"] Photo/China Airlines[/caption] “China Airlines cargo has been endeavoring to modernize our digital capabilities for years,” Eddy Liu, CI’s senior vice president of cargo, said in a release. “However, we see the evolutional change in digital sales and operations since COVID, and I believed SaaS [software as a solution] is the right solution we are looking for. We expect to build up a strong partnership with IBS Software and to realize faster time-to-market for our products and services without compromising compliance of data integrity.” By moving to iCargo’s cloud-based SaaS platform, CI’s operations will be streamlined. “The new system will facilitate greater adoption of digitalization and digital connectivity with APIs [application programming interfaces] and other modes of electronic communication as well as provide the capability to accurately use data as a business tool with fully integrated business intelligence capabilities and a live feed into a corporate data warehouse,” Gautam Shekar, senior vice president and region head of APAC and Middle East at IBS Software , told Air Cargo Next . “iCargo will provide China Airlines with a set of advanced tools and capabilities that will significantly elevate their capabilities and enable adoption of innovative practices in areas like sales and commercial, cargo operations and cargo revenue accounting,” Shekar said. “iCargo will also provide China Airlines with elevated connectivity and integration with their existing landscape of technologies, such as with customs, postal authorities, other airlines, ULD control systems, load control systems, etc.” The program is delivered using a minimum viable product approach in its initial go-live, according to Shekar. The initial go-live will balance time to market, business change management effort and benefit realization. “Further increments on top of this initial go-live will bring in additional value-added capabilities such as direct API-based integration with customers and digitalized sales support using mobile apps,” Shekar said. “iCargo has never missed a single go-live in its entire existence, and IBS is continuously innovating on its delivery mechanism ensuring that every iCargo delivery is within time and budget. IBS has one of the largest teams of air cargo domain experts in the industry today.” CI is not the first customer to turn to iCargo to streamline its operations. IBS has 35 iCargo customers, including global and regional, and high- and low-cost carriers, as well as ground handlers, Shekar said. Notable customers include Lufthansa Cargo , Air France/KLM , Singapore Airlines , Cargolux, Korean Air , ANA , Delta Cargo and American Airlines .
