Philadelphia-based logistics company BDP International is expanding its Latin American presence with the opening of a new office in Montevideo – its first office in Uruguay and 14th in Latin America.

“Latin America has a rich history of being an international trade hub, which continues to be driven by the ongoing infrastructure modernization and new global free trade agreements,” said Hector Midolo, BDP’s managing director of Latin America.

Economies in Central and South American have been growing hits year – evident in data reported from the International Air Transport Association and the WorldACD, which showed Latin America as one of the world’s fastest-growing regions, in terms of cargo volumes moved in August.

Montevideo is considered a regional hub for the southern half of the continent, and the gateway to the South Atlantic coast – providing access to Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, with 11 free trade zones and free port services, the company said.

The location will offer BDP’s chemical, petroleum, mining, energy and retailing customers services, including ocean and air export and import, customs clearance, control tower services, ground transport, warehousing and purchase order management.
