CLA celebrates female crew on International Women’s Day

Two women, who are pilots for Volga Dnepr’s United Kingdom-based subsidiary carrier CargoLogicAir (CLA), Captain Jacqueline Robinson and First Officer Carina Krause, became the first all-women crew to fly one of CLA’s 747 freighters. The trans-Atlantic flight carried 100 tonnes of cargo from Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and arrived in Atlanta (ATL) just in time today to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Last year, CLA was one of the first signatories of the Women in Aviation and Aerospace Charter, launched during Farnborough International Airshow, as part of the airline’s commitment to gender equality.

“As a growing international airline, we want to promote the aviation industry as a great career choice for men and women, and we want to ensure that we attract, and offer opportunities to, the most talented individuals to support our expansion plans,” said CLA’s CEO, David Kerr.

The growing all-cargo carrier increased cargo volumes by 36 percent during 2018, compared to the previous year, reaching 780,000 freight tonne kilometers. It received its fourth 747 freighter in October 2018, and plans to operate five freighters by 2020.
