Teleport bolsters cargo capabilities with 5 new services

Malaysia-based Teleport, the logistics venture of Capital A, today launched five specialized cargo services for shippers, freight forwarders and charter companies: Teleport Charter, Teleport Priority, Teleport Pharma, Teleport Fresh and Teleport Live. With Teleport’s charter service, customers can book both whole, partial or combo aircraft capacity while Teleport Priority ensures that shipments will have access to capacity, according to today’s release. Teleport Pharma and Fresh, which adhere to the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Temperature Control and Perishable Cargo Regulations, aim to transport temperature-controlled shipments safely and without temperature excursions. Both services are also equipped with specialized ground handling. Teleport Live, for live animal transport, offers expedited ground handling services and housing containers and adheres to IATA’s Live Animal Regulations. Photo courtesy of AirAsia.[/caption] Teleport has been expanding its cargo capabilities during the past year to meet the region’s growing airfreight demand and establish itself as a full-service cargo provider, despite historically only operating with the belly capacity of AirAsia’s fleet. In November 2021 the logistics provider announced plans to launch its own-controlled freight service using a K-Mile Air-operated 737-800BCF , and in January partnered with forwarder Geodis to expand its AirDirect fixed schedule network for additional intra-Asia connectivity. Earlier this year, the logistics venture announced that one-third of AirAsia X’s A330-300 fleet will be utilized by Teleport for additional cargo capacity, and in March resumed some of its scheduled connectivity using four A330 aircraft with cargo in the bellyhold. Destinations for the cargo-only flights include Sydney (SYD), Seoul (ICN), Tokyo (HND) and Manila (MNL), among others. In March, Teleport also added digital booking capabilities through Freightos’ WebCargo platform for customers in Malaysia, Australia, India, Korea, Japan, Manila and Singapore.
