Airbus pushes A350F entry into service to 2026

Airbus has pushed back the entry into service of its new A350F to 2026. Airbus is adjusting industrial planning for the program after reaching the first milestones, the France-based planemaker said in its first-quarter results today. (Photo/Airbus)[/caption] The first A350F was to be delivered and start commercial service in 2025. Production of the prototype freighter’s center wing box subassembly recently began at the Airbus Atlantic facility in Nantes, France. The subassembly is slated to be complete by Q1 2024, while the first A350F’s fuselage sections will begin assembly in Q4 2023, the manufacturer told Cargo Facts in April. Final assembly of the large-widebody freighter will take place in Toulouse, France. Airbus is targeting a production rate of nine A350s — including both freighter and passenger versions — per month by the end of 2025, it said in a statement. The manufacturer was not immediately available for comment. Eight customers had placed orders for thirty-nine A350Fs as of the end of March 2023: Etihad Airways , Singapore Airlines and Air Lease Corp. with seven each; Martinair , Air France and CMA CGM with four each; Silk Way West with two; and an unidentified customer . Boeing, meanwhile, expects to start delivering its new 777-8F in 2027. The first Cargo Facts LATAM takes place May 15-17 in Panama City. Register today.
