Asia Cargo Network grows 737 Classic fleet in Southeast Asia

Malaysia-based Asia Cargo Network continues to expand its narrowbody freighter fleet and has added two 737-300Fs for two of its airlines. Firstly, Malaysia-based World Cargo Airlines (WCA), which earlier this year began operating the first 737-800BCF (29052, ex-Aeromexico) in Southeast Asia , has taken delivery of its third aircraft, the 1997-vintage 737-300F (28869, ex-Star Air Cargo). (Photo/World Cargo Airlines)[/caption] Unit 28869, which landed in Subang (SZB) July 24, had been in Tampa (TPA) since late January 2021 when it arrived for conversion with PEMCO. Cargo Facts believes Plane Business Leasing owns the aircraft. WCA now has a 737-800BCF, a 737-400 (25099, ex-Alaska Airlines) and a 737-300F. When the carrier took delivery of unit 29052 on lease from BBAM at the beginning of 2021, it told Cargo Facts that it expected to add two more aircraft this year. WCA flies primarily on behalf of national postal operator Pos Malaysia, which divested its 51% stake in the airline to Asia Cargo Network in August 2020. Meanwhile, Indonesia-based Tri-M.G. Intra Asia Airlines, fellow member of the Asia Cargo Network group, has also taken its sixth 737-300F (28398, ex-Southwest Airlines). Unit 28398 belongs to Rostrum Leasing, which also converted it with PEMCO, but at the STAECO facility in Jinan (TNA). The 1997-vintage aircraft had arrived in Jakarta (CGK) in March 2021 but did not start flying until July, now featuring Asia Cargo Airlines branding and a new livery. Tri-M.G. Intra Asia Airlines has now doubled its fleet in the past twelve months, having added another ex-Southwest unit (28401) from Rostrum in September 2020 and another ex-Star Air Cargo unit (28569) earlier this year. Asia Cargo Network could not be reached for comment on its fleet plans or on Asia Cargo Airlines.
