DHL doubles storage capacity in Tampa

DHL Express is investing US$5 million into its Florida-area service – relocating its Tampa operation to a new site twice the size of its predecessor. The 35,000 square foot facility will serve the greater Tampa-St. Petersburg region, with road service to connect to DHL aircraft operating out of Orlando International Airport (MCO), 100 miles to the east. Its equipment will be able to process items ranging from parcels to pallets at a rate of 2,000 units per hour.

“Our ability to facilitate rapidly-growing international trade puts us in the forefront of serving customers who are expanding their growth globally,” said Chet Paul, SVP and general manager for the southeast area for DHL Express U.S. “This new facility puts importers and exporters in an excellent position to trade in the international marketplace.”

DHL Express is making a concerted effort to capitalize on U.S. exports and imports, establishing facilities in hubs across the country, including Seattle, Chicago, Dallas, New York, Long Island City, Irvine, Fresno and Ontario, Calif.
