March manufacturing: China up, rest of the world trending down

Now that March 2020 purchasing manager survey index data (PMI) has been released for most countries, recent changes to manufacturing activity are becoming clear. China is up as manufacturing has come back online following the extended Chinese New Year lock-down. Meanwhile, as COVID-19 takes a firm grip on countries around the world, manufacturing activity is showing signs of weakness.
