Schiphol Airport said it will begin an IT modernization program, investing approximately US$2.17 million into the Cargonaut platform. Half of the funding will come from a Top Sector Logistics grant, while the remainder will be provided by Dutch customs, Logius, ACN, Schiphol Group and Cargonaut.
Cargonaut, which became operational in 1986, was initially focused on messaging between parties. Â Since then, it has been greatly expanded to manage and speed up all the processes involved in the import and export of goods through Schiphol with eCargoReceipt, ScanLog and eLink applications.
Brussels is also setting out requirements for customs processes, protocols and ICT systems. The Dutch government wants to cooperate as closely as possible with the industry and its community information platforms, to ensure that processes are integrated and features and information are re-used.
