Amazon's Prime Air is ready for its closeup in Seattle [VIDEO]

After yesterday’s unveiling of Amazon’s new “Prime Air” livery for the 767 freighters it is leasing from Atlas Air and Air Transport Services Group (ATSG), the Seattle area is preparing for the aircraft’s expected fly-by in the city’s annual Seafair celebration this weekend, including an air show by the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels aerobatics team.

Most of the forty 767 freighters in the Prime Air fleet will operate on a hub-and-spoke basis from the ATSG hub in Wilmington, but some will be used on point-to-point, north-south routes on the East and West Coasts of the United States, and some on east-west routes. Amazon officials said the 767 aircraft were chosen based on the belief that enough traffic was moving in Amazon’s US domestic logistics business to fill 40 such large freighters. However, the company remains open to the possible addition of smaller freighters in the future.
