Velocity of freighter aircraft transactions increases in January FATs

The breadth of carriers and equipment involved speaks to the current state of demand for dedicated freighter lift. Orders and commitments for new-build freighters and freighter conversions came from ACMI and specialist operators, combination carriers and express carriers. Additionally, nearly every active jet freighter and freighter-conversion program for jet freighters saw activity, ranging in size from the 747-8F to the CRJ200. Momentum usually slows in January as holidays drag into the first month of each new year. In January 2019, just sixteen transactions were logged. For the month of January 2020, Cargo Facts reported twenty-seven transactions — though at least six of those were retirements or withdrawals. Below is a complete list of FATs recorded last month. These transactions originally appeared on Page 1 1 of our February issue, available here . Atlas Air placed an order for the final four 747-8Fs from Boeing [FATs 005871-5874]. FedEx Express retired an MD-10-10F (46970) and ferried it to Victorville (VCV) [FAT 005909]. FedEx also acquired a 777F (39682) from Etihad Airways [FAT 005863]. DHL Express placed an order for eight 777Fs from Boeing, and added options for four more [FATs 005875-5886]. Taiwan-based China Airlines took delivery of a 777F (66892) from Boeing. The aircraft was ferried to Taipei (TPE) [FAT 005941]. Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM) inducted for conversion a 767-300ER (27451, ex-American Airlines). The aircraft was ferried to Tel Aviv (TLV) for conversion by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) [FAT 005900]. CAM also took redelivery of a 767-300BDSF (27448, ex-American Airlines) after conversion by IAI [FAT 005901]. DHL acquired two 767-300ERs (33085 and 33089, both ex-American Airlines) from Jetran [FATs 005833 and 005917]. Amazon took delivery of a 767-300BDSF (25450, ex-American Airlines) on lease from Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM), and handed it over to Air Transport International (ATI) for CMI operation [FATs 005852-5853]. FedEx took delivery of a 767-300F (63121) from Boeing. The aircraft was ferried from Everett (PAE) to Indianapolis (IND) [FAT 005862]. Jetran acquired two 767-300ERs (33082 and 29605) from American Airlines [FATs 005888 and 005918]. Air Canada entered a sale-leaseback agreement with CAM for two 767-300ERs that will be converted to freighters [FATs 005889-5894]. DHL transferred an A330-200F (1032, ex-EAT Leipzig) to the AOC of Air Hong Kong. The aircraft had previously been operated by ASL Airlines Ireland [FAT 005902]. Turkey-based MNG Airlines cancelled an order for three A330-200Fs from Airbus [FATs 005864-5866]. Turkmenistan Airlines placed an order for two A330-200P2Fs with Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) [FATs 005904-5905]. Qatar Airways removed from its fleet its four remaining A330-200Fs (1584, 1594, 1688 and 1708) [FATs 005912-5915]. West Atlantic returned two 767-200BDSFs (22222 and 22224) off lease to CAM [FATs 005845-5846]. DHL transferred a third 767-200BDSF (23017, ex-ABX Air) from Atlas Air to Amerijet for CMI operation [FAT 005921-5922]. AerSale inducted for conversion a 757-200 (29594, ex-American Airlines) [FAT 005844]. The aircraft was ferried from storage to AerSale’s own facility in Goodyear (GYR). SF Airlines took redelivery of a 757-200PCF (33100, ex-TUI Airways) [FAT 005849]. The aircraft was ferried from Chengdu (CTU) to Shenzhen (SZX). Northwestern Cargo International Airlines acquired four 757-200s (34008, 34009, 32941 and 32942). All had been operated by Xiamen Airlines [FATs 005858-5861]. BBAM took redelivery of its first A321-200P2F (1238, ex-Thomas Cook Airlines) after conversion by EFW, and leased it to Titan Airways [FATs 005854-5855]. BBAM also took redelivery of a 737-800BCF (29052, ex-Aeromexico) after conversion by Boeing at the GAMECO facility in Guangzhou (CAN), then leased it to Malaysia-based World Cargo Airlines [FATs 005847-5848]. Bulgaria-based Cargo Air inducted for conversion its first 737-800 (30664, ex-Smartwings). The aircraft was ferried to Dothan (DHN), where it will be converted by Aeronautical Engineers Inc. (AEI) [FAT 005850]. BlackRock placed an order for a fifth 737-800SF conversion with AEI [FAT 005851]. BlackRock also inducted for conversion a 737-800 (29917, ex-AnadoluJet). The aircraft was ferried to Xiamen (XMN), where it will be converted by AEI [FAT 005899]. China Central Longhao Airlines took delivery of a 737-800BCF (33818, ex-AnadoluJet) on lease from GECAS [FATs 005856-5857]. ASL Airlines inducted for conversion a 737-800 (33604, ex-Ryanair). The aircraft was ferried to Jinan (TNA), where it will be converted to freighter configuration by Boeing [FAT 005903]. GA Telesis inducted for conversion a 737-800 (28826, ex-Blue Air). The aircraft was ferried to Miami (MIA), where it will be conducted by AEI [FAT 005897]. Vx Capital inducted for conversion a 737-800 (28535, ex-Corendon Airlines). The aircraft, which will be Vx’s first 737-800F, was ferried to Kelowna (YLW), where it will be converted by AEI [FAT 005911]. Nauru Airlines inducted for conversion another of its own 737-300s (25607). The aircraft was ferried to MIA, where it will be converted by AEI [FAT 005898]. Everts Air Cargo inducted for conversion an MD-83 . The aircraft (53450, ex-Ryan International Airlines) will be converted by AEI at DHN [FAT 005895]. Mexico-based Aeronaves TSM took redelivery of an MD-83SF (49945, ex-Ameristar), after conversion to freighter configuration by AEI at DHN [FAT 005910]. Aeronaves TSM also inducted for conversion a CRJ200 . The aircraft (7691, ex-ExpressJet) will be converted by AEI at DHN [FAT 005896]. U.K.-based RVL Aviation took delivery of its first Saab 340BF (223, ex-NyxAir), on lease from Jetstream Aviation Capital [FAT 005887].
