Sine Draco inducts conformity A321-200SDF conversion

Sine Draco has inducted the conformity aircraft (963, ex-AtlasGlobal) for the A321-200SDF passenger-to-freighter conversion program it is developing, the company confirmed to Cargo Facts . Sine Draco will become the third to cut metal on an A321-200 with the intention of developing a freighter supplemental type certificate (STC). (Photo/Sine Draco)[/caption] Touch labor for the modification is being done at the Ascent Aviation Services facility in Tucson (TUS) and is anticipated to be completed in the second quarter of 2022. Once converted, Sine Draco will continue flight tests with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The company is targeting an STC from the FAA by the third quarter of 2022, Senior Director of Sales and Marketing Chris Stafford told Cargo Facts . Ascent will be performing the touch labor, modification planning and inspection requirements. The induction follows the 1999-vintage airframe’s completion of a partial heavy maintenance check in July and modification testing that was done earlier this year. Ascent will also provide maintenance and flight line support during the ground and flight test program following conversion. Once the aircraft is converted and the program is certified, Sine Draco plans to sell the freighter, according to Stafford. Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) obtained the European STC for its A321-200P2F in 2020, while 321 Precision Conversions received certification for its A321-200PCF earlier this year . Sine Draco selected Ascent to perform the conversion program in 2020.
