New Way Cargo readies first 737-300F for service

Kyrgyzstan-based New Way Cargo Airlines is diversifying its Russian-built freighter fleet and will soon put its first 737-300F into service. The 1996-vintage 737-300F (27520) departed Tallinn Airport (TLL) in Estonia April 9 and arrived at Bishkek’s Manas International Airport (FRU). (Courtesy/PACTL)[/caption] New Way Cargo acquired unit 27520 after it stopped flying with China-based North-Western Cargo International Airlines, and ferried the aircraft to FRU in November 2023. The aircraft remained at FRU until it flew to TLL in January to undergo maintenance and conformity checks. North-Western Cargo leased unit 27520 in November 2020 from China-based YTO Cargo Airlines, which owns 20% of the airline. The aircraft was removed from service in March 2023 and returned to YTO in September as North-Western completed its transition to a single-type fleet of 757-200Fs. With the addition of unit 27520, New Way Cargo operates six aircraft, including five Ilyushin Il-76 freighters. Second carrier with Boeing freighters

New Way Cargo will soon become the second carrier to operate Boeing freighters in Kyrgyzstan, joining Aerostan, which operates three 747-200Fs and is looking to add a 747-400F to its fleet this year. Aerostan expressed interest in the 747-400F when it acquired its first 747-200F production freighter in the fourth quarter of 2022.
