Digital Pulse: NAV Portugal to upgrade data fusion system from ADB Safegate

Zaventem, Belgium-based technology solutions provider ADB Safegate signed a contract to deliver a new multisensor data fusion system for surveillance to Lisbon-based air navigation services provider NAV Portugal . (Photo/ADB Safegate)[/caption] NAV Portugal first deployed ADB’s data fusion system at Portugal’s Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) in Lisbon in 2009 and Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport (OPO) in Porto a few years later, according to a release Monday from ADB. Under this new contract, ADB will replace the original data fusion system with one that is compliant with Eurocae ED-87 aviation system standards and central to ADB’s OneControl surveillance service, which includes an air situation display, a departure management system, an electronic flight strip system and a surface movement guidance and control system. The new system will use surveillance sensors at the airports and, through its integration with the airport safety support service, will provide controllers with alerts specific to NAV Portugal air traffic control operations, according to the release. “Through this undertaking, Lisbon and Porto airports will benefit from new safety enhancements while upgrading to the latest technology stack,” Goncalo Vale , chief financial officer and board member at NAV Portugal, said in the release. HLT to upgrade service to dnata London-based logistics firm Hermes Logistics Technologies (HLT) will migrate cargo handler dnata Amsterdam ’s operations at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) to its latest cloud-based cargo management system, Hermes 5 Software as a Service, according to a release Monday from HLT. With two terminals at AMS, the airport is one of dnata’s largest stations, having processed more than 650,000 tonnes of cargo last year, according to the release. “Our latest software, Hermes 5 SaaS, is our most function-rich cargo management system to date, helping to streamline workflows, provide greater transparency and improve data sharing across dnata’s operations in Amsterdam,” HLT Chief Executive Yuval Baruch said in the release. Hermes 5 SaaS provides end-to-end management of import, export and transit processes with enhanced security, improved messaging capabilities and access to HLT’s full suite of products, according to the release. HLT will manage and maintain dnata Amsterdam’s servers and applications. The Hermes 5 SaaS upgrade is planned for dnata’s cargo operations at Brussels Airport (BRU) in 2024, according to the release. Airway Logistics digitalizes operations Australian airfreight handling company Airway Logistics has digitalized its airfreight operations by implementing the MARGO cargo solution from Mauritius-based software company Maureva , according to a release Tuesday from Maureva. Maureva tailored the MARGO system to Airway Logistics, formerly known as Pak Fresh Handling, to address the business’s needs, according to the release. The MARGO system automates the issuance of air waybills and cargo handling processes, streamlining customer support and warehouse operations. The system integrates IATA messaging systems Cargo-IMP and Cargo-XML, as well as Australia’s customs interface, according to the release. MARGO offers rate management, warehousing charge allocation, invoicing and reporting tools. “The strategic acquisition of MARGO for digitalizing and optimizing our operations to improve performance and service levels and boost revenues is an important milestone to meet the requirements of our rapidly expanding airfreight handling business,” Nathan Beven, Airway head, said in the release.
