People: New appointments within air cargo

Major executive leadership changes at DSV [caption id="attachment_57140139" align="alignright" width="166"] Brian Ejsing[/caption] [caption id="attachment_57140140" align="alignright" width="246"] Jens H. Lund[/caption] Jens H. Lund became chief executive of DSV Group on Feb. 1, replacing Jens Bjorn Andersen , who had been in the job for 15 years. Brian Ejsing has filled Lund’s vacated chief operating officer role. The DSV executive board now consists of Lund, Ejsing and Chief Financial Officer Michael Ebbe , according to a release from the company. Early in his career, Lund worked at Carnegie, Danske Bank and Deloitte , Krogh & Partners . He became DSV Group chief financial officer in 2002, then COO and vice CEO in 2021. Ejsing began his career at DSV as a freight forwarder in 1986 and has held senior managerial roles in several countries and in DSV’s Road and Solutions divisions. He was CEO of DSV Solutions and part of the group executive committee since 2012. Other changes to the group executive committee included: Albert-Derk Bruin was appointed CEO of DSV Solutions effective Feb. 1. Bruin previously was executive vice president of business strategy, excellence and change management in the Solutions division. He joined DSV in 2010 and has been part of the division’s executive management team since 2019. Morten Landry was appointed group chief commercial officer effective Feb. 1. Landry has been part of the DSV group for more than 20 years and previously was managing director of Air & Sea in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Landry replaces Rene Falch Olesen , who stepped down after more than 40 years at DSV. Effective May 1, Carsten Trolle , CEO of DSV Air & Sea, is stepping down after more than 39 years with DSV and nine years in charge of the Air & Sea division. Trolle “will continue in a central role and support the group with strategic projects,” the release stated. [caption id="attachment_57140143" align="alignright" width="140"] Frank Sobotka[/caption] Frank Sobotka will become CEO of DSV Air & Sea effective May 1. He joined DSV 14 years ago and is managing director of Air & Sea Germany and executive vice president for Central Eastern and Southern Europe. Sobotka has 34 years of experience in the logistics industry. DSV ranked third on Air Cargo Next ’s Power 25 list of top freight forwarders. Swissport appoints Dobbelsteijn global head of ops [caption id="attachment_57140142" align="alignright" width="225"] Frank Dobbelsteijn[/caption] Swissport International AG appointed Frank Dobbelsteijn as global head of operations, effective Jan. 1. With more than 30 years in aviation and logistics, Dobbelsteijn most recently served as vice president for Menzies Aviation ’s operations at London Heathrow Airport (LHR). He previously held other senior positions at Menzies in the United States and Europe as well as serving as senior station manager at Amazon in Los Angeles. “With his vast experience in airport ground operations and the logistics sector, Frank is ideally prepared to take Swissport’s service delivery to the next level in terms of safety, reliability, customer-centricity and consistent operational excellence,” Swissport President and Chief Executive Warwick Brady said in a company release. Dobbelsteijn succeeds Richard Male , who had been Swissport’s interim director of global operations since April. Male is now head of airports operations for New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory at Qantas . Rauchhaus takes bigger role at Lufthansa Cargo [caption id="attachment_57140141" align="alignright" width="242"] Philip Rauchhaus[/caption] Lufthansa Cargo has promoted Philip Rauchhaus to regional head for Germany, Austria and Switzerland and key account management for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Rauchhaus joined Lufthansa Cargo sales in 2009 and has held several managerial positions, according to a release from Lufthansa Cargo. “We are delighted to have gained an experienced manager for this position who knows the airfreight industry inside [and] out,” Lufthansa Cargo Chief Executive Ashwin Bhat said in the release. “He will provide new impulses in the marketing of our airfreight capacities and the cooperation with our customers, especially in our home market.” The German sales department was previously headed by Achim Martinka , who left the company in October. Lufthansa was No. 16 on Air Cargo Next ’s Freight 50 list of top 50 cargo carriers. Lee to help refine acquisition integrations at AIT [caption id="attachment_57140136" align="alignright" width="174"] Richard Lee[/caption] Supply chain solutions company AIT Worldwide Logistics has appointed Richard Lee as vice president of global project management office and contract logistics. Lee will focus on “strategic, efficient resource management services, while also streamlining the process to integrate recently acquired companies,” according to a release from AIT last month. He reports to Chief Business Officer Greg Weigel . “As AIT continues to expand our footprint across the globe, both organically and via acquisition, Rick’s extensive background and his visionary approach to consultative contract logistics relationships make him a valuable addition to our leadership team,” Weigel said in the release. With more than three decades in the industry, Lee has held management positions at Seko Logistics , Avaya and Ceva Logistics . CAA taps Thibodeau to lead safety, regulatory policy [caption id="attachment_57140138" align="alignright" width="174"] Jennifer Thibodeau[/caption] The Cargo Airline Association (CAA), an advocacy organization for the air cargo industry, named Jennifer Thibodeau as managing director of safety and regulatory policy. Thibodeau joined the CAA this month from the Office of the General Counsel at the U.S. DOT , where she served as senior attorney, working on international transportation issues for more than 20 years. Thibodeau will lead safety and regulatory work on behalf of the air cargo industry before the FAA , the National Transportation Safety Board , the DOT and other federal agencies. “Jennifer brings deep expertise and firsthand insights from her long public service working on transportation policy,” CAA President Lauren Beyer said in a release. “The aviation regulatory environment is ever-changing. Her proven record of fostering collaboration between government and industry will bring great value to CAA and our members.” Chiang to manage Hong Kong, Macau for DHL Express [caption id="attachment_57140137" align="alignright" width="226"] Andy Chiang[/caption] Andy Chiang became managing director for DHL Express Hong Kong and Macau on Jan. 1, as well as joining the DHL Express Asia Pacific management board. Chiang succeeds Ng Chee Choong , who is now managing director for DHL Express Taiwan, according to a release from the company. Chiang will report to Ken Lee , CEO of Asia Pacific at DHL Express, and will continue to be based in Hong Kong. Chiang has more than 30 years of experience at DHL Express in roles such as country CFO in China, vice president of finance controlling for Asia Pacific and head of global strategic finance. “Hong Kong is Asia’s financial hub,” Chiang said in the release. “I am excited to take on the role to push forward DHL Express’ growth and sustain its continuous success as Hong Kong and Macau’s provider of choice.” DHL Group ranked second on Air Cargo Next ’s Power 25 list of top freight forwarders. Xeneta appoints Luykx as CRO [caption id="attachment_57140144" align="alignright" width="187"] Tonia Luykx[/caption] Ocean and airfreight rate intelligence platform Xeneta last month appointed Tonia Luykx as its new chief revenue officer. Xeneta Senior Vice President Paul Mullins previously served as CRO. Luykx has helped build software-as-a-solution for tech businesses including Sift , Google , Dropbox and Amazon , according to a release from Xeneta. The Xeneta platform uses more than 400 million crowdsourced data points to allow buyers and sellers of ocean and airfreight to benchmark rates across the market in real time. “In terms of the potential to transform how ocean and airfreight is bought and sold and how supply chain procurement divisions operate, we have only scratched the surface,” Luykx said in the release. “Disruption and innovation is my passion. ... We [at Xeneta] have not even started to quantify the level of automation and operational efficiencies we can bring.” Kale boosts its sales team [caption id="attachment_57140135" align="alignright" width="168"] Maureen Kam[/caption] [caption id="attachment_57140134" align="alignright" width="169"] Camilo Navarro[/caption] Kale Info Solutions , a division of Mumbai, India-based supply chain technology provider Kale Logistics Solutions , announced Jan. 31 that Maureen Kam is now vice president of sales for Canada and Camilo Navarro is sales manager for South America. Kam brings more than 20 years of airline experience, leading teams in global sales and digital transformation programs across Asia, the South Pacific and North America, according to a release from Kale. Navarro, who brings 35 years of cargo management experience in Colombia and the Americas, will spearhead growth of Kale Info’s cargo community systems in South America. “We are heading into 2024 and beyond with the best expertise and knowledge at the helm of our Americas operations,” Kale Info Chief Executive Amar More said in the release. “Our focus is on fostering growth and enhancing community systems across the Americas, ensuring the benefits of digitalization reach ports and airports throughout the regions.”
