People: Van De Weg takes CEO role at Mas

Robert Van De Weg became chief executive this month at Mexico-based cargo airline Mas. He succeeds Andres Fabre, who became executive chairperson at Mas. [caption id="attachment_57148749" align="alignright" width="229"] Robert Van De Weg[/caption] Van De Weg previously spent more than five years as chief commercial officer at ECS Group. He has also held leadership positions at CargoLogicManagement, AirBridgeCargo, Cargolux, Atlas Air and KLM Cargo. He has been in the air cargo industry for more than thirty years. Mas operates two A330-200P2Fs (0854 and 0868) and one A330-300P2F (1712). The carrier anticipates adding at least one A330-300P2F in the first half of 2025, it told Cargo Facts last year. Kim to lead Air Incheon through acquisition of Asiana’s cargo business [caption id="attachment_57148747" align="alignright" width="168"] Kim Kwan-sik[/caption] Air Incheon promoted Kim Kwan-sik to CEO in December, ahead of the cargo carrier acquiring Asiana Airlines’ cargo business . Asiana’s freighters are expected to join Air Incheon’s AOC by June, Air Incheon previously told Cargo Facts . Kim succeeds Stanley Lee as CEO. Lee, who held the position for two years, is also founder and CEO of Calaf Aviation Advisory. Kim joined Air Incheon in November 2024 as executive vice president and chief financial officer. He has also held leadership positions at several affiliates of Kumho Asiana Group. Young to head marketing, sales at Mammoth [caption id="attachment_57148751" align="alignright" width="182"] Zach Young[/caption] Zach Young was appointed director of marketing and sales at Mammoth Freighters this month. Young spent nearly ten years at Precision Aircraft Solutions and 321 Precision Conversions, with the last nearly six years as director of sales and marketing. “It was an absolute pleasure representing Precision in the marketplace with the 757-200PCF and the A321-200PCF , both excellent STCs designed by an incredible team of engineers,” Young wrote on LinkedIn in January. “Although the sun is setting on 757 conversions , the A321 has a bright future ahead when feedstock and demand normalize again.” AeroLogic names Niedermeyer new CFO [caption id="attachment_57148748" align="alignright" width="236"] Marcus Niedermeyer[/caption] Marcus Niedermeyer was appointed chief financial officer and second managing director Jan. 1 at AeroLogic, the joint venture between DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo. Niedermeyer, who had been interim CFO since July 2024, is responsible for finance, human resources, IT and administration. Josef Moser has been the other managing director at AeroLogic since May 2017. Niedermeyer succeeds Katharina Prost, who held the position from October 2022 to July 2024. With more than twenty-nine years of experience in the aviation industry, Niedermeyer was managing director of Air Mail Center Frankfurt GmbH from 2018 to June 2024. Prior to that, he held management positions at Lufthansa Cargo. AeroLogic operates twenty-two 777Fs , six under a Lufthansa Cargo codeshare flight number and sixteen on behalf of DHL. It is due to receive more DHL units in 2025. Elpers to become VP of worldwide operations at KLM Cargo [caption id="attachment_57148746" align="alignright" width="191"] Charlotte Elpers[/caption] KLM Cargo has appointed Charlotte Elpers vice president of worldwide operations, effective March 1. She will succeed Koen Bolster, who became executive vice president for hub operations at KLM on Feb. 1. Elpers has been with KLM Group for nineteen years in roles including director of cabin crew at Transavia, vice president of schedule development and distribution at KLM, and her current position as vice president of passenger services at KLM’s Schiphol (AMS) hub. Maini to serve as acting CFO at Cargojet [caption id="attachment_57148750" align="alignright" width="188"] Sanjeev Maini[/caption] Scott Calver, CFO of Cargojet, went on medical leave in mid-January and will remain on leave until further notice, the car rier announced Jan. 15. Until Calver’s return, Sanjeev Maini, Cargojet’s vice president of finance, will serve as acting CFO. Maini has been with Cargojet for more than two decades and also served as acting CFO in 2021. Cargojet added its first production 767-300F at the end of 2024. The 2000-vintage, CF6-powered unit (30780, ex-LATAM Cargo) was purchased by Jetran in October, and landed in Waco, Texas (CNW), on Dec. 7 from Roswell, N.M. (ROW), where it had been parked since Oct. 29. Cargojet also expects to take redelivery of two 767-300BDSFs (29617 and 29383) in 2025.
