People: ATSG appoints Mays president

ATSG today appointed Greg Mays as president to lead the company’s commercial and operations teams. [caption id="attachment_57291483" align="alignright" width="216"] Greg Mays[/caption] Mays succeeds Jeffrey Dominick , who became president in June 2024 when Mike Berger was promoted to chief executive. Berger remains CEO. Before joining ATSG this year, Mays served for six years as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Sun Country Airlines . He has also held leadership roles with Alaska Airlines and Delta Air Lines . He began his career as a senior design and test engineer for the International Space Station at Boeing . WestJet names Ebrahim head of cargo ops [caption id="attachment_57291485" align="alignright" width="249"] Sabir Ebrahim[/caption] WestJet promoted Sabir Ebrahim to head of cargo operations effective June 1. His responsibilities include ramp and warehouse operations, safety and security, according to a Sept. 1 release. Ebrahim succeeds Bharat Bhatia as WestJet’s head of cargo operations, a role Bhatia held from September 2022. Bhatia left WestJet to become head of cargo operations at dnata . Ebrahim had been manager of cargo pricing and systems at WestJet since January 2023. He has also held cargo-pricing and operations positions at Qatar Airways , Emirates and dnata. FedEx names Talwar chief digital, information officer [caption id="attachment_57291487" align="alignright" width="200"] Vishal Talwar[/caption] FedEx appointed Vishal Talwar as executive vice president and chief digital and information officer for FedEx, and president of FedEx Dataworks , the integrator’s data solutions arm, effective Aug. 15. Talwar joined FedEx from Accenture Technology , where he was senior managing director and chief growth officer for more than ten years. He has been working with FedEx for the past two years on digital transformation through his role at Accenture, according to an Aug. 12 release from FedEx. Talwar has also held positions at Wipro , Dell and IBM . He brings expertise in data science and digital infrastructure, specifically using cloud, data, AI and other technologies to increase business resilience and accelerate digital capabilities, according to the release. Cathay appoints Lam as SVP for the Americas [caption id="attachment_57291481" align="alignright" width="234"] Cindy Lam[/caption] Cathay Pacific appointed Cindy Lam senior vice president of the Americas, effective Sept. 1. Lam leads the carrier’s strategy and business operations in the region, including cargo, according to an Aug. 11 release. She succeeds Chris van den Hooven , who retired after more than thirty-eight years with the carrier. Lam has been with Cathay for more than twenty-four years in multiple roles, most recently as general manager of customer care. She also previously served as head of strategic planning and projects in the flight operations department. Reynaert to lead global advocacy efforts for IATA [caption id="attachment_57291486" align="alignright" width="239"] Thomas Reynaert[/caption] IATA appointed Thomas Reynaert as senior vice president of external affairs, effective Sept. 1. He is responsible for coordinating IATA’s global advocacy efforts from its office in Brussels. Reynaert joined IATA from IBM, where he was vice president of government and regulatory affairs for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) from 2023. Prior to IBM, Reynaert was the founding managing director of Airlines for Europe , running the group from 2016 to 2023. “Airlines face the burden of onerous taxation, the imperative of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and the fragmentation of global standards,” Reynaert said in a Sept. 1 release from IATA. “I’ll be working with governments worldwide for a more productive regulatory environment in which airlines can efficiently compete and grow.” Wang to represent TIACA in China [caption id="attachment_57291482" align="alignright" width="260"] Fowler Wang[/caption] TIACA has expanded its presence and engagement in China with the appointment of Fowler Wang as its regional representative to the country. Wang has more than twenty years of experience in air cargo, logistics, sales management and event leadership, according to an Aug. 20 release from TIACA. As founder and CEO of Summit Asia Events , Wang established the China Air Cargo Summit, which will hold its nineteenth conference in November. “China is a cornerstone of global air cargo and TIACA’s presence there is essential,” TIACA Chair Steven Polmans said in the release. DHL Supply Chain promotes 6 [caption id="attachment_57291484" align="alignright" width="354"] Top row, from left: Rainer Haag, Katrin Holter and Orkun Saruhanoglu. Bottom row, from left: Andries Retief, Marco Bruggemann and Bremer Pauw.[/caption] DHL Supply Chain , the contract logistics arm of DHL Group , made several leadership changes in August and September: Rainer Haag was appointed CEO of DHL Supply Chain Europe, a role in which he will oversee sixteen central European markets, according to an Aug. 19 release. Haag joined DHL in 2010 as director of operations in Spain and most recently was CEO for Germany and the Alps at DHL Supply Chain. Katrin Holter was appointed CEO for Germany and the Alps. She was chief operations officer for EMEA since 2022. Orkun Saruhanoglu was appointed CEO of DHL Supply Chain for the Middle East and Africa, a new position, DHL announced Aug. 19. Saruhanoglu has been with DHL for twenty-seven years, most recently as CEO for central and eastern Europe at DHL Supply Chain. Andries Retief was appointed chief development officer, effective Sept. 1. Retief, who has been with DHL for nearly fifteen years, most recently was chief customer officer for the EMEA region. Marco Bruggemann was appointed CCO for Europe, effective Sept. 1. He has been with DHL since 2002. Bremer Pauw was appointed CCO for the Middle East and Africa, effective Sept. 1. Pauw, who has been with DHL for nearly four years, also serves as managing director for Africa.
