777 Freighter orders keep rolling in

Boeing recently received two more orders for 777 Freighters, from China Southern Airlines (six units), and GECAS (two units, for end user Ethiopian Airlines on ten-year dry leases). Neither order has been posted on Boeing’s website, but both have been confirmed by the carriers and lessor involved.

Guangzhou-based China Southern has now ordered twelve 777Fs (and taken delivery of five), while GECAS has now ordered ten (of which  two have been delivered to Chile-based LAN, and four (of six) to China Cargo Airlines)

This brings Boeing’s total of firm orders and commitments for the 777F to 117 – a remarkable total for a freighter aircraft that has been in production for just over two years, particularly given its list price of almost $270 million.

Note that while we do not generally include commitments (letters of intent, memoranda of understanding, or other types) in our discussions of orders, in this case the carriers and lessors have all announced their intentions and Cargo Facts believes all the orders will be firmed in the near future.
