According to IATA’s latest e‑AWB report, Cathay Pacific Airways now operates 46% of its international cargo shipments using e-Airwaybills, well ahead Emirates, which is in second place among the world’s major carriers at 28%. A recent push by Egyptair has lifted its e-AWB penetration to over 50%, but it does not carry anywhere near as much cargo as the others top ten.

Among forwarders, the leader (by percent of international shipments using e-AWBs) is DHL Express, at 36%, with most of the major players at between 15% and 20%, although Kuehne+Nagel has achieved just 4.8% e-AWB penetration. The chart below shows both carriers and forwarders ranked by the volume of shipments moving on e-AWBs, with the percentage of each company’s e-AWB shipments shown in the right-hand column.

On a worldwide basis, the number of international shipments moving on e-AWBs in April was 206,404, up 51.5% over the last twelve months, as the percentage of shipments using e-AWBs increased from from 8.4% a year ago, to 14.3%.
