Aloha launches widebody freighter service

Aloha Air Cargo entered the widebody freighter arena with the launch of scheduled 767-300F service from LAX.

Hawaii-based Aloha Air Cargo began five-times-weekly scheduled service between Los Angeles (LAX) and Honolulu (HNL) on 23 October. The carrier is using a 767-300BDSF (26544), operated on an ACMI basis for Aloha by ABX Air, a subsidiary of Air Transport Service Group [FATS 001901 – 1902]. This is Aloha’s first widebody freighter service.

On the subject of LAX-Honolulu service, there is also news from Pacific Air Cargo, which said it would increase the number of weekly 747-200F frequencies it offers on the route from five to six, for the period 3 November through 29 December. The freighter is operated on an ACMI basis by Kalitta Air Services. Pacific Air Cargo recently moved to a newly refurbished cargo terminal at LAX, which it shares with Cathay Pacific.
