Boeing logs first 777F order of year

Boeing’s 777F program started the second quarter of 2023 with its first order of the year for a single unit. The single order, by an unidentified customer, was placed in April, according to today’s monthly update to Boeing’s orders and deliveries [ FAT 008700 ]. (Photo/Boeing)[/caption] Boeing’s backlog now shows seventy-seven 777Fs on order, including ten that are unidentified. The total includes the new unit 66902, which left Paine Field (PAE) on delivery to China Airlines. In the first quarter of 2022, Boeing’s backlog showed nineteen 777F orders by five customers that were made public: six from DHL Aviation Americas, five from Ethiopian Airlines Group, four from China Airlines, and two each from Qatar Airways and Western Global Airlines. There were also two unidentified 777Fs in the first quarter of 2022, bringing Boeing’s backlog total to twenty-one for that period. A credit report released by Moody’s Investors Service on March 23 indicated that Western Global Airlines had canceled its 2022 order for two 777Fs, although Cargo Facts could not confirm this cancellation and the airline’s order still appears on Boeing’s backlog. Meanwhile, one of the upcoming DHL 777Fs (67142) was recently spotted at PAE in full DHL colors with a U.K. registration, and another with its tail fin partially painted in the express company’s yellow livery, according to a social media post. In addition to unit 66902, Boeing has delivered five 777Fs so far in 2023, including three 777Fs that departed PAE around the end of Q1, with two (67798 and 67821) to China Cargo Airlines and one (67799) to China Southern Cargo. The other two 777Fs were delivered earlier in the year, with unit 67833 joining the Air China fleet in February and unit 67763 entering service with China Postal Airlines in March.
