Hermann joined Wingcopter in 2021 and simultaneously served as the venture partner at Kejora Capital before becoming director of Rigel Capital Management in 2022.
Wingcopter, founded in 2017, is a pioneer of the last-mile drone segment and, as of last year, had sold most of the production slots for its Wingcopter 198 drone in 2022 and 2023, a company spokesperson told Cargo Facts.
The Darmstadt, Germany-based drone designer and manufacturer secured $42 million in a series A extension funding round in 2022 to expand its drone solutions beyond the medical delivery sector.
Wingcopter is researching the use of hydrogen power to propel the W198 model. The company conducted delivery trials with ANA and in 2022 committed more than 12,000 drones to Africa to aid in delivery of medical supplies to remote regions.
“With our delivery drone, we enable the same-day, instant delivery of goods to small retail stores, but also to the end consumer in a more efficient way,” Hermann said during a panel at Cargo Facts EMEA 2023 in Dubai.
Cargo Facts EMEA 2024 will provide attendees with an overview of the pivotal events that shaped the industry in the past year while analyzing market conditions, trends and new developments underway.
