After the last two depressing years it has been easy to forget that the Farnborough and Paris Air Shows were once the scene of major aircraft order announcements. But the first day of this year’s event in Farnborough has brought some of the old excitement back with the announcement of 227 orders for commercial jetliners. Our running total is as follows:
- GECAS: 40 737NGs, 60 A320 Family
- Air Lease: (Steve Hazy’s new company) 51 A320 Family
- Emirates: 30 777-300ERs
- Aeroflot: 11 A330-300s
- Azul (Brazil): 5 Embraer 195s
- Kartika (Indonesia): 30 Sukhoi Superjets
No freighters in that lot, but we note that launch customer Etihad will formally take delivery of the first A330-200F at the Air Show tomorrow.
We’ll keep this list updated as the show progresses.
