Nose-to-tail freighter conversions in September FATs

Cargo Facts logged forty-eight freighter aircraft transactions (FATs) during the month of September, up five from the transaction volume recorded in August , as nose-to-tail redeliveries and inductions of freighter conversions defined the month. Aircraft contributing to growth of the Amazon Air fleet dominated 767-300 and 737-800 transactions. The Amazon Air 767-300BDSF fleet increased by two units with newly placed units from CAM. During the same period, Amazon acquired four 767-300ERs, all of which are now being staged for conversion. CAM also inducted two additional 767s following the redelivered Amazon units — these units could end up leased to Amazon, or another customer. The e-tailer also added two 737-800BCFs on lease from GECAS. GECAS in turn inducted two more 737-800s for conversion. Freighter conversion activity wasn’t limited to Amazon; other lessors, including Airwork, which took redelivery of a 757-200PCF, inducted aircraft immediately after. UPS took delivery of a 747-8F (65784) from Boeing [FAT 005592]. This is UPS’ seventeenth 747-8F and leaves just eleven 747-8Fs in the express carrier’s order backlog. Turkey-based ACT Airlines placed two 747-400BDSFs (25641 and 25645) in ACMI service with Turkish Airlines. The aircraft had previously been operated on behalf of Saudia Cargo [FATs 005617-005620]. EVA Air placed an order for three 777Fs with Boeing [FATs 005588-005590]. FedEx took delivery of a 777F (66256) from Boeing and ferried it to Memphis (MEM) [FAT 005591]. Lufthansa Cargo took delivery of a 777F (66912) from Boeing [FAT 005642]. Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM) took redelivery of a 767-300BDSF (29228, ex-LATAM), following conversion to freighter configuration by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) [FAT 005596]. CAM acquired two 767-300ERs (27059 and 29430, both ex-American Airlines) and inducted them for conversion to freighter configuration by IAI in Tel Aviv (TLV) [FATs 005615-005616; 005623; 005634]. Amazon took delivery of two 767-300BCFs (24632 and 24400, both ex-ANA) on lease from CAM, and handed them over to Air Transport International (ATI) for CMI operation [FATs 005608-005609; 005639-005640]. Amazon acquired four 767-300ERs (25274; 25576; 25363; and 25246, all ex-WestJet) [FATs 005606; 005613; 005624; 005635]. Amazon inducted for conversion three 767-300ERs; two (25274 and 25576) were ferried to IAI’s facility in TLV [FATs 005612 and 005625], while the other (25363) will be converted by IAI at the Mexicana MRO facility in Mexico City (MEX) [FAT 005636]. UPS took delivery of a 767-300BDSF (29229, ex-LATAM), on lease from CAM [FAT 005610]. FedEx took delivery of a 767-300F (66242) from Boeing [FAT 005611] . Amerijet took delivery of a 767-300BDSF (26996, ex-American Airlines), on lease from CAM [FAT 005621]. Canada-based Cargojet took redelivery of a 767-300BDSF (24083, ex-Air Canada), following conversion to freighter configuration by IAI at its TLV facility [FAT 005629]. DHL Express acquired and inducted for conversion a 767-300ER (33083, ex-American Airlines). The aircraft was ferried to Singapore (QPG) to be converted by Boeing at the ST Engineering facility [FATs 005632-005633]. The Hungarian government acquired an A330-200F (1578) from Qatar Airways [FAT 005604]. Spain-based Swiftair took delivery of a 757-200PCF (25296, ex-American Airlines), after conversion to freighter configuration by Precision Aircraft Solutions in Jacksonville (VQQ) [FATs 005598-005599]. Airwork inducted for conversion two 757-200s (27053 and 27054, both ex-American Airlines). The aircraft are being converted into freighter configuration by Precision Aircraft Solutions at the AerSale facility in Goodyear (GYR) [FATs 005626-005627]. Airwork also took redelivery of a 757-200PCF (27056, ex-American Airlines), after conversion by Precision Aircraft Solutions at GYR [FAT 005631]. SF Airlines acquired and inducted for conversion a 757-200 (33098, ex-TUI Airways). The aircraft was ferried to Chengdu (CTU) to be converted to freighter configuration by Precision Aircraft Solutions [FATs 005645-005646]. Amazon took delivery of two 737-800BCFs (34029, ex-China Xinhua Airlines; and 32742, ex-NewGen Airways) on lease from GECAS, and handed them over to Southern Air for CMI operation [FATs 005585-005586; 005601-005603]. GECAS inducted for conversion three 737-800s (33819, ex-AnadoluJet; 29940 and 29939, both ex-Ryanair). The aircraft were ferried to Jinan (TNA), TNA, and Shanghai (PVG), respectively, to be converted by Boeing [FATs 005597; 005641; 005644]. GECAS also took redelivery of two 737-800BCFs (33544, ex-Ryanair; and 32608, ex-China Xinhua Airlines), after conversion to freighter configuration by Boeing at PVG [FATs 005630 and 005637]. GA Telesis firmed up an option on a second 737-800SF [FAT 005534]. The aircraft (28826, ex-Blue Air) will be converted by Aeronautical Engineers Inc. (AEI) in Miami (MIA). BBAM inducted a 737-800 (28608, ex-Futura) for conversion to freighter configuration by Boeing [FAT 005628]. The aircraft was ferried to the STAECO facility at TNA. Spectre Air Capital inducted for conversion a 737-800 (29668, ex-Jet Airways). The aircraft is the first being converted by IAI at the Mexicana MRO facility [FAT 005638]. BlackRock placed an order for a fourth 737-800SF conversion from AEI. The aircraft (29040, ex-Ukraine International Airlines) will be inducted at the HAECO Xiamen facility in January [FAT 005643]. Automatic acquired three ex-Flair Airlines 737-400s (25104, 28888 and 28889) through a special purpose vehicle called Classic 491 [FATs 005593-5595]. KF Aerospace acquired a 737-400 (26280, ex-Juliet Romeo Aviation) [FAT 005600]. The aircraft will be inducted for conversion at the KF Aerospace facility in Hamilton (YHM) later this year. Bulgaria-based Cargo Air inducted for conversion its final 737-400 conversion on order (28882). The aircraft was ferried to Dothan (DHN) to be converted to freighter configuration by Aeronautical Engineers Inc. (AEI) [FAT 005614]. DHL Express placed a 737-400SF with Mesa Airlines for CMI operation. The aircraft (27157) had been operated by Southern Air until the end of July [FATs 005647-005648]. Indonesia-based Pelita Air Service took delivery of an ATR 72-500F (705, ex-Mistral Air), on lease from Nordic Aviation Capital [FAT 005607].
