Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals (Hactl, which handles close to 80% of the cargo at Hong Kong International Airport) reported record volume last month. And not just by a whisker, but by a considerable margin: Hactl’s June volume of 245,000 tonnes was up 30.5% over June 2009, and up 11.1% over the previous record of 220,000 tonnes set in June 2008.For the first half of 2010, Hactl’s handle was up 38.4% to 1.39 million tonnes. This is also an all-time record for the first-half of a year, well up from the 1.28 million tonnes handled in 1H08.
The airport’s other major handler, Asia Airfreight Terminal, also reported an amazing surge, with its June handle up 56% over June 2009, and its first-half handle up 51% over 1H09.
