Yusen Logistics gains pharma foothold at Schiphol
Increasing its development in the pharmaceutical supply-chain business, Yusen Logistics has opened a pharmaceutical facility at Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport. The forwarder has a 3,900 square-foot GDP (good distribution practices) compliant warehouse, full temperature control from 15 to 25 degrees centigrade, pest control, separate areas for pharma and general cargo, a cold store unit which is kept at 2 to 8 degrees centigrade and 45 pallet positions.
The new operation was developed in close consultation with Yusen’s pharmaceutical customers who can now have full or part load consignments for transport by air, sea or road. The new service is dedicated to the stringent requirements of the pharmaceutical and health care sector, the company said. Yusen has more than 50,000 delivery points in Europe, and the company is making 20,000 deliveries per week across 36 countries. Main destinations for Yusen’s pharmaceutical airfreight shipments from Amsterdam are JFK, Sao Paulo, Toronto, Santiago, Japan, Korea, Manila and Sydney.
