Brazilian retailer expands relationship with CEVA

Brazilian books and electronics retailer Saraiva is expanding its relationship with  CEVA Logistics to manage its Southeast Brazil distribution network, utilizing CEVA’s warehouse in Extrema,  Brazil – about 65 miles from CEVA’s logistics hub in São Paulo.

In 2017, CEVA moved more than 30 million products, including 10 million e-commerce orders, for Saraiva, via its two distribution centers, where it provides Saraiva picking services, warehousing and inventory management.

“Extrema, in the state of Minas Gerais, is very well located, which enables easy access to logistic roads for the South, Southeast and Centro-East regions,” said Douglas Piagentini, business development director for CEVA Logistics Brazil. “This allows much faster deliveries of customers’ online purchases from our warehouse to the final destination.”

The facility at Extrema will specialize in electronics and computer accessories, and will offer what Saraiva calls “turbo delivery,” in which a customer can place an order as late as 3 p.m. and receive it the next day – mirroring the one-day shipping standard set by competitor, Amazon.

“Not only will it provide us with greater agility in domestic deliveries, we will also be able to restock our physical stores faster,” said Alexandre Faria, logistics manager of Saraiva.

Amazon has been available to Brazilian customer since its quiet launch in the country in 2012, amid rumors that it may be purchasing the already well-established Saraiva, which has a similar product mix – but the Brazilian company appears to have sustained its independence of the e-tail giant, as it continues to invest in the e-commerce faction of its business.
